Old Park - The Isle of Wight Hotel is situated within the romantic Undercliff in 16 acres of gardens, woods, streams and waterfalls in the southern tip of the Isle of Wight. The estate faces due south, with grounds extending to a secluded rock pool beach and is completely sheltered from northerly winds by 300 foot high cliffs. This unique geography gives it an almost sub-tropical climate.

The Old Park Hotel is a family run independent hotel. It is firmly established as one of the leading hotels for families on the Isle of Wight, offering every facility for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday in a family friendly atmosphere. Our aim is to provide a hotel for adults but at the same time offering special provision for the children. Many of our guests visit us again and again. The hotel will also suit those without children who seek a quiet comfortable retreat.

The hotel provides a perfect base for a holiday with a comfortable, relaxing and informal atmosphere. The hotel is situated on a quiet private road with ample car parking. The sandy beaches and other main attractions of the island are within easy reach by car. The island is noted for its well signposted footpaths, trails and bridle paths, which offer ever varied scenic views. Horse riding, cycling and golf etc can be arranged at the hotel.

There is a comfortable oak panelled adult lounge for those who wish to read quietly. Our well stocked bar is a pleasant venue for a lunchtime or pre-dinner drink. Snacks, sandwiches and light luncheons can be obtained here. In the evening the badgers come to the windows to eat the breakfast left-overs.

The old Park enjoys a reputation for a wide choice of good traditional British food, together with popular worldwide dishes. We willingly cater for those who require vegetarian, diabetic, or other special medical diets. Strained or junior foods are available for young babies. There are plenty of high chairs and booster seats available if required.

A children's meal is provided between 4:45 and 5:45 pm where a traditional dinner is available, as well as a choice of children's favourites. Family dinner is from 7:00pm when children may eat with their parents, but please note that and extra charge will apply and guests may only order from the main evening menu.

During busy periods entertainment is provided in the hotel. Family entertainment takes place after the children's meal. Adult entertainers commence after the evening meal. Further entertainment may be available during the supervised play periods.

Many people prefer to spend the day peacefully in the hotel grounds, where children can play safely on the Timberline play equipment. There is also a putting course and a football area. The many paths through the woods provide an exhilarating family walk. There are several families of red squirrels resident in the grounds.

The grounds extend to a secluded part sandy rock-pooling beach, known as Binnel Bay, which is reached by a short walk along a wooded path. The 2 mile walk along the coastal path to Ventnor starts at this point. This passes the Botanical Gardens, and the popular bay at Steephill Cove. The Isle of Wight Glass Studio is close by where you can observe glass being made.

Accommodation

The hotel offers a variety of individually styled bedrooms, both modern and traditional in decor. All rooms and suites have a private bathroom, Baby listening service, tea making facilities, a colour television and direct dial telephone.

For that special weekend away, with or without the children, the Spindler Suite provides the best in our hotel accommodation, with a Victorian four-poster bed, a comfortable sitting area facing the sea, a children's room, and a bathroom with a large bath and a  double shower.

The west wing offers accommodation in the Gothic or Victorian decor. Many of the rooms have original features, antique brass bedsteads, four poster beds and some afford pleasant sea views across the garden. Several suites in the East and West Wing can accommodate larger families.

The rooms in the East wing, which was added in 1972, provide a modern style of accommodation with most rooms also offering a sea view.

Our family suites are very popular. Each unit has a master bedroom with double, twin or four poster bed, a children's room and a bathroom. The children's rooms have full size bunk beds or single beds. Cots are available when required.

The Leisure centre is situated adjacent to the hotel and contains an indoor heated swimming pool, a large soft play area, a toddlers ball pit, table tennis, a pool table and a full size snooker table. A special room is also provided for the children's supervised play. The heated indoor pool is the perfect depth for swimming with your children. The toddlers splash pool provides the perfect introduction to swimming.
